If you're a classical hopeless romantic of an apartment-ite, chances are you love roses, and just might appreciate a visit to the Whetstone Park of Roses. Located on N High St in the Clintonville neighborhood, this 13-acre park features over 11,000 rose bushes, and is situated within the larger (136 acre) Whetstone Park.

The roses are indeed spectacular, and are really eye-catching (and fragrant) when you see so many of

them clustered so close together, but understandably they're not in bloom during the colder months. Aside from the roses themselves, there's a fountain, an amphitheater (that often hosts live music) and a gazebo, as well as a Victorian watchtower and an herb garden. There's also a designated kiddy play area for your mini apartment-ites.

The park is mainly a well-manicured, large rose garden (with an attached daffodil garden), so there's not much in the way of regular community events. But there is a yearly Columbus Rose festival that takes place in the park, which is definitely worth a look in the summer months. There is a nearby parking lot, and the park is still just as much of a hangout as others in the area, and there are some grills and outdoor picnic tables if you want to make a day of it.
